Modeling of free surface water waves

Hello all,

I'm new to CFX v11.0 and have some questions regarding 2D free surface wave transient solution (or two-phase flow like it's called in CFX)

1. Is there an option to define on the inlet surface (x=0) different heights of water level at different times (with the same velocity)? â€" I've tried using "initialise profile data" but I guess it's only suitable for SS problems.

2. Is there an option to define the I.C. by defining water level at any position on the field at t=0?

3. I've checked tutorial 7: Free Surface Flow Over a Bump, how does the expressions defined there connect to my transient problem regarding the definition of B.C. ?

I'll be thankful for any help here or sent to my e-mail.

Best regards, John

Searching is good sometimes, you know ;-)

See this post: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forum/cfx.cgi?read=30204

Answer is yes to 1 and 2, doc link in the post! (Use the same type CEL functions for IC as for the BC)

Re: Modeling of free surface water waves

Hi,

can you please send me a 2D example simulation file for modeling initial free surface profile (say water and air) and it's evolution upon time?

Fluid structure interaction for water wave turbine

Hi,

I am new to ANSYS CFX software but have learnt some basic simulations. i would be very gratefull if i could get help on Fluid structure interaction for water wave turbine.

Thanks Mohammed
