Floating point exception: Invalid number

I am modeling a transient radiation heat transfer problem. Whenever I tried to run it, the solver crashed. The output files shows: ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction. | | Message: | | Floating point exception: Invalid number

My model is in micrometer scale. I don't know if CFX can do modelings in such small scales like that or not. I can't figure out what caused that error. I would like to get some advice from experienced user and I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

Re: Floating point exception: Invalid number

does it happen after the 1st or some iterations or you have 0 successful iterations? If you have at least some successful iterations please observe the maximal temperature/velocity. May be it tends to infinity?

Re: Floating point exception: Invalid number

The solver crashed at the first iteration. Later, I tried to run a steady state simulation, same thing happened at the first outer loop iteration. Any idea of what's going on?

Thanks, dace!

1. does it work without radiation heat transfer included? 2. which radiation model you use and what is absorption coeffiecient?

Hi,

The length scale of your simulation is fine. That is not the cause of the problem. You simulation has diverged. Read the documentation about "obtaining convergence" and also this page this may help:
