Monitor point

Hello there

I am trying to monitor some properities at a moving boundary. I found an option which allows me to define a monitor point at a node, but I didnt know how to get the node index at the desired location. If any one can tell me how to get the node index of any point, or if someone knows how to monitor a point at a moving boundary.

Thanks

Hi,

If you set a monitor point at an XYZ location it snaps to the nearest node and stays on that node as the mesh moves. Thus you do not need the node index.

I think the XYZ point location is snaped to the nearst node at each time step. so at each time step I may end up at a different node depending on which one is the nearst node. I am not positivly sure of that but its worth checking. Thanx :)

Hi,

The last time I used a monitor point with a moving mesh was in V10 and that definitely was the behaviour back then. ANSYS had been talking about updating it so the monitor point was recalculated each mesh movement so maybe it got implemented in V11 (I have not checked). If so then hopefully you have some control and can turn this on and off. Not sure, I don't use that feature any more.
