Hi,
I want to run a simulation that has a cylinder, which is a circle in 2D and so is this simulation, which generates vortices and then place an object in the wake region and observe what are the effects of the vortices on that object. I mean i want to see the flow interaction. Well, the problem is that I cannot capture the vortex shedding. When i run the simulation with only the circle in the domain, i get the vortex shedding but when i run the simulation with the object behind the circle with a small gap between them, nothing happens. I don't understand why i cannot get the vortex shedding in the latter case. the object is very thin with thickness 1mm and length 50 cm, and the circle has diameter 4 cm. Can anybody give me an idea how can i make this work? Also, is it possible to do this separately? I mean if i do one simulation with the circle only and get the vortices and all, is it possible to do a second simulation with the object in place in the wake region where all the vortices are. I mean the flow in the second simulation will be the flow obtained from the result of the first one. My aim is to see the interaction of the vortices with the object. That object is very soft and will deform with the flow. Any suggestions/ideas would be of great help. Please I really need to get this to work urgently. Thanks in advance. Faraaz. |
