Hello all,

I am running into some troubles with a new simulation. It is a CHT simulation with a blade in cascade flow including the blade solid heat transfer with matching interfaces. The simulation per se runs perfectly fine.

Now I want to implement a thin layer on the Fluid-Solid Interface between blade and Cascade Flow Fluid. I have tried both, "thin material" and "thermal contact resistance". Both the times I specify a layer thickness of 45micron and a thermal conductivity of 0.5 W/m/K. Both the times I get the same error, saying:

ERROR001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction.
Message:
Illegal faceset pair has been found

ERROR001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction.
Message:
Stopped in routine get_nelgzif

the only thing i see is that it changes the Mesh Connection from "1:1" to "GGI". Is there any reason this would give me the above mentioned error?

Has any of u used this feature in CFX and made similar experiences?

I am happy about any input.
Regards,
Katha

Opaque will become famous soon enough
Thin material/contact resistance models only work with GGI.

Which mesh connection are you currently using?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
Currently I am using 1:1 on all surfaces, since I meshed with matching interfaces. I am also still using this on all other surfaces, where I don't have thin materials/thermal contact resistance.

The issue was resolved by setting all other interfaces mesh connectivity to "automatic". However, I do not yet know why that should have been a problem in the frist place.
In general GGI should be used for CHT simulations. 1:1 can apparently cause unphysical behaviour of temperature on the interfaces. I myself could not observe such behaviour though.
