sqitch off one component velocity CFX

Is it possible to swith off one-component velocity equation in CFX, translating formally 3D domain to 2D?

as far as I know cfx wont dont do 2d simulation and you cant partialy disable the hydrodynamics equations. the only way I know to perform 2d simulations in cfx you need to make a 2d mesh using cfx-mesh

Hi,

You do it most easily by making a domain one element thick and putting symmetry planes on both sides. This ensures the flow is 2D (as flow cannot cross a symmetry plane) but the solver still is solving the full 3D equations so there is a major memory and CPU time penalty there compared to a true 2D model.

There is no way of getting CFX to do a true 2D model. It has to be the most requested feature from the earliest days of the CFX5 family but it has never been done. All I can say is put in a feature request for it, and if you need to do lots of 2D work you should go to a different software such as Fluent or CFD-ACE which does do true 2D simulations.
