Steady-state or transient?
 

Hi everyone!

I'm using V12, and in particular the thermal electric coupled analysis.
The simulation that I want analyze has to be transient, but actually it seems that using ANSYS workbench this is not possible.
Does somebody know what I must change and where to obtain a transient analysis?

In CFX Pre you go Simulation => simulation type=> there you can select option steady state or transient

I know that I can use the transient simulation in CFX, but do you think that importing an .inp steady-state file from thermal-electric in CFX the simulation that I will obtain is transient?

as far as i understand it for a coupled mechanical-cfx solution the two solvers need to run in parallel and exchange interface information

i dont know what the .inp file is as i for what i do never run anything coupled BUT in cfx a steady state simulation the timescale for each set of physics does not have to be the same. this is not the case for a transient simulation as every calculation needs to run at the same physical timescale. if the iteration from your mechanical simulation is considered as steady state regardless of the fluid iteration (I'm not sure if this is the case but go with me on this) essentially you dont want to run a coupled simulation but a transient cfx simulation and adding the mechanical source to your simulation. i hope this makes sense

the problem is that my idea is to have a continuous excange of data from cfx to mechanical, and this is why I want have in every case a transient simulation.
The .inp file is something that I obtain writing the imput file, and once that I'm working on CFX I must upload this file, that contains data, loads and boundary conditions.
The problem is that reading the code I can be sure that this file, and so the relative simulation is static and not transient...
