Hello,

I try to simulate the mass flow within a shroud cavity that is infront and after my stator blade. Therefore, I need to connect my hub with the cavity domain somehow. Unfortunately, I don't know how to implemet an interface between this specific hub region and my cavity as the mesh simply has a single hub domain. Please check my attachment.
In other words: I want to tell CFX that there are two openings on the hub where mass is streaming in/out.

Is a user surface an option?

I do not understand your question. Please post a labelled image showing where the fluid paths are, where the inlets and outlets are and the cavities you are trying to model.

Hey,

thank you for dealing with my problem. Sorry, I was afraid that I didn't describe the situation properly.
Basically, I want to simulate the mass flow through my stator cavity. So, I need to link the mesh of my cavity domain to my main channel. In CFX Pre, I merely can assign the entire hub as a "Wall" but I need to tell CFX that there is a linkage to the cavity where the fluid is going in/out.
In the picture, I labelled the various domains. I hope it becomes clearer now.

You need to make sure the interface between the cavity and the channel is one surface and the walls are another surface. Then you simply need to define a GGI to link the cavity and channel and the other surfaces will be walls.

Ok, so the specific surfaces need to be generated during the mesh generation, right? I was hoping there was any other solution in CFX-Pre

Recent versions of CFX-Pre show the component surfaces of some meshes. Then you won't need to remesh. But this is only available in recent versions of CFX (from about V17 I think) and only works for meshes generated by some software.

But if you remesh and make the surfaces different named groups then it is easy to assign different boundary/interface conditions onto them.
