Energy source modeling

1 Attachment(s)
Hi
I am trying to model an energy source on a plate as shown attached.
Coordinate (xy-plane) is on the Plate surface and I want to apply an energy of 1e5[w/m^3]. The shape of the energy source is circular with diameter 1mm.
I used step function in CEL to get the required circular shape of dia 1mm as:

1e5[w/m^3]*step((1.5[mm]-sqrt(x^2+y^2))/1[mm])

This gives energy source right on the surface of the plate.
But the source is 2mm above the plate surface (along z-axis).
Please advice how to shift this source 2mm above the plate surface in z-direction.

Regards

do you have any nodes there? ;)

2D sources need to be on some form of boundary condition. 3D sources need to be applied to a volume. Either you have to put a boundary condition there to apply the source to or specify a volume to apply the source.

In this case it looks best to specify a thin circular region and use a 3D source in a subdomain.
