Hi,

I would just like to confirm that when one sets the SST transitional turbulence to 'fully turbulent', the boundary layer is set to be entirely a turbulent boundary layer. I don't see this stated explicitly in the manual, so I was just wondering if someone could confirm this is true.

Hi,

If you select the fully turbulent option, CFX will not solve the two extra transport equations, intermittency and transition Re, and it will act like other turbulence models, assuming flow is turbulent everywhere (except laminar sub-layer, if you use enhanced wall treatment).

Sorry to bring this old thread up again.
I have exactly the same question in mind.

So having fully turbulence turned on under transitional turbulence of SST model is same as having a default SST turbulence model (without activating transitional turbulence option) - the two-equation eddy-viscosity mode. Is this correct?

That is certainly the intention. I would check the modelled equations in the documentation to see if there is any mathematical difference however.
