Problem with probe
Hello!
I have a little problem regarding to the probe-function in Ansys CFD-Post. My intention is to determine the velocity of my model in several discreet points given by x-, y- and z-coordinates. I want to use - correct me if I'm wrong - the probe function with the following syntax: probe(velocity)@(0;0;0) Unfortunately I don't get a solution, I think the location-coordinates-syntax is wrong. What is the right syntax? Thanks in advance! Best Regards, Jörg |
Make a point object on the front page of CFD-Post. Then the probe(velocity)@Point 1 function should work.

Yes this works...Thanks!
But this isn't useful for many points. I have to probe approx. 8000 points. I can't create them all manual. And Point clouds aren't "probe-able". My target is to get the velocity of each point of an closely point grid of an rectangular plane, ideally as an table like this: | X-coord. | Y-coord. | Z.-coord. | velocity | | ... Please help me! Thanks. |
Turn the session recorder on and record a session file. While recording, make a point object and stop recording. Look at the session file in a text editor - you can now edit (copy/paste) the session file to generate as many points as you like. If you feel really clever you can even use a perl script loop to generate zillions of points in a small loop.
To export the data you simply use the file/export command and select the locators (in this case the points) and the variables you wish to export. |
D-Oh!
I have never seen the file->export option before. Now it is really easy. Sometimes I don't see the forest because of all the trees.... Best thanks! -to be closed- |
