Implementing a breakup model into CFX
 
Hello, i am sorry that i am contacting u directly hope you don't mind.

I am trying to make numerical investigation of droplets breakup in stratified flows.


My geometrie is rectangular duct with horizontal part elbow and sloped part.

That means i have two continuous phases at the beginning and then i should model this droplets, how can i do it

You are proposing quite an advanced and difficult simulation. Have you experience in multiphase modelling?

You have not described much about what you are trying to do. Are the droplets coming in the inlet or are they coming from elsewhere? Is it a spray breakup? Are droplets breaking up and/or coalescing?

The Droplets gonna be stripped from the water waves (Hydraulic jump) under the assumption that the height of this waves after stripping (drag bigger than surface tension effect) stay unchanged.

To model stripping of water droplets from breaking waves is going to be a tough job. There is no in-built model to do this. You are either going to have to model it directly with a free surface approach (and the model size will be huge) or develop some sort of droplet generation model in a eularian context. This will have to be tuned against empirical data. Either way I hope you are a CFD expert otherwise you have no chance.

I know it will be tough to implement this, i have nevertheless the theory (stripping, capillary waves,...) to do this only the first step how to integrate this...

Then you are half way there already. So then what issues are you having in implementing it?
