Turbulence metric

Hi folks,

I'm simulating gas flow in small structures. I'll optimize the structure with turbulence as of one the output parameters.

What would be the best metric to characterize turbulence?

Thx for the help

Depends on what you are interested in. Drag, mixing, turbulence intensity, boundary layer thickness etc etc could be parameters of interest depending on what is important to what you are doing.

I'm simulating a gas sensor, so I'm trying to optimize its dimensions by taking into account time to fill and pump out and how is the gas flow inside it, e.g. I may want certain degree of turbulence (if it helps the reaction inside) provided that pumping down is not (much) affected.

So it sounds like drag and mixing are the key parameters for you.

I'll try them. thx a lot
