How to ignore some 2D primitive region in CFX-Pre

Hi There,
I create my mesh in Gambit and some how the mesh in CFX-pre shows a 2D primitive region inside the domain which I have not created at all. Now, if I do not define it under any boundary condition, it will wall under Default domain which would be wall. Is there any way to delete or ignore this internal 2D region? Please help. Regards, KK |

the 2D primitive region is usually the other face of the volume element. if u r running a 2D analysis then symmetry would be the correct choice as boundary condition for this region

Problem in more detailed explanation

Thank you for your reply Moas,
Here I explain my problem in more detail. I created my mesh (3D)in Gambit using Hexa-core approach and it gave me a nice mesh with Hex elements in the inner region of domain surrounded by pyramids and then prims. I define my boundaries and then import that mesh in CFX-11. But it(CFX-pre and post) shows one 2D primitive region right where HEx elements ends and pyramids start. Now if I do not define this region, then it would appear in 'Domain default' boundary, which would be of type wall. I do not need this region at all. It's entirely fluid domain. How can I edit my mesh such that this 2D region gets deleted ? Or what could be other options to do in CFX? Thanks once again, Regards, KK |

hi,
i think that its not 1 face but 2 faces where the mesh is changing , just define a mesh interface at those faces so that you will get a continious volume, good luck talha |
