Hi,
I was running a simulation in CFX andm I've noticed that the solver uses only 50 % of the CPU power ( Intel Core Duo). Then I opened the task manager, set the priority of the solver to highest. It worked for a couple of minutes but then it was the same as before, still 50%. Can anyone help me out? Regards, Martin |

I guess you use the serial mode. In this case the solver generates one process which can at maximum produce 50% load on a dual core machine. You should use the parallel mode with two processes in order to get 100% load. Regards |

I'll try it next time when I run the solver.
Thank you, much appreciated. |

If I understood correctly in the CFX solver manager when the define run window pops up you set the Run mode to HP MPI Local parallel (I followed the tutorial). But then when I start the run the calculation it ends just after approx. 4 seconds, no iterations displayed or calculated and in the bottom left corner the program stage is still in preparing for the calculation.

Have you set your system up for running in parallel? Have a look in the setup manual for how to do this. Nothing will happen until you set it up.

First of all: Do you have a license to solve problems on two cores (1 to 2 license)?
When the solver stops take a look at the monitor (right click on "Solutions" -> display monitors) and watch in the workbench (if you use it) for the messages: If the license for 2 cores is missing, you find a corresponding hint there. |
