Bike brake rotor simulation

Hi everyboby,

I'm trying to simulate the air passing through a rotor brake.

1.For my first test i did it with a plain round rotor. There is 2 domains solid and fluid.
The solid domain is turning proportionnaly to the bike speed.
The rotor interface (boundary) in the fluid domain is also turning.
The result seems to be OK.

2.I have a problem with the case of the reel rotor, because there is vent hole in it. The fluid mesh must also rotate to follow the hole. I don't know how to build my simulation (rotating domain, rotating boundary...rotor stator interaction??).

P.S, i have a solid domain, because after i want to try to simulate heat exchange, but later...

Thanks
Etienne

I know CFX V11 and earlier does not support rotating solid domains. Not sure if V12 does, but I think V13 supports not. Have a look at the release notes for V13 (on the CFX Community website on www.ansys.com) and see if that will help you.

I'm sure that V12.1 does. I read it somewere and i did it.
But you're right, V11 didn't.

My real problem is at the interface. I want to move the fluid mesh.

In that case good, it will make it much easier. Have a look at the tutorial example flow in a axial rotor stator for how to set up rotating domains.
