Plotting Radial Velocity and Tangential Velocity in CFD Post

Hi all

I applied cylindrical velocity components at inlet of a pipe as inlet boundary condition as below:

Axial Component: 0.175*(1-(r/R)^2)
Radial Component: 0
Theta Component: 0.02*r

I want to plot Radial Velocity and Tangential Velocity along the pipe but I do not know how? I just can plot the Cartesian component of velocity (u,v,w) in CFD Post. Does anyone know how I can plot Radial Velocity and Tangential Velocity in CFD Post?

Best regards,
AshtonJ

In cfx post go to turbo mode then define your rotation axis next click calculate velocity components.now you can plot the variables you need.

Dear bharath

I did a FSI(Fluid Solid Interaction) modelling in a pipe. In CFD post when I wanted to plot axial, radial and circumferential velocity components, I got this error:

"No data exists for variable "Velocity Axial" specified in object series 1.”

However, I went to Turbo mode, defined my rotation axis and clicked calculate velocity components.

Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

Thanks
Regards,
AshtonJ

Hi ashtonJ
Have you solved the problem of plotting axial, radial and circumferential velocity components in CFX-Post?
thanks

Hi Jane,

Try what bharath suggested. You should be able to plot the velocity components.

Hi,ashtonJ
In "turbo",first I define a Axial, and then click the " Calculate Velocity Components",an error appears as following

No data types for variable Mesh Velocity Axial
Warning
Action more_vars failed

do you know how to fix this problem?
