ANSYS/CFX, MFX, piezoelectric actuated micro-pump problem

Dear all:

I am using 64-bit Ansys 12.1 and trying to repeat the Ansys example on MFX (coupled-field analysis guide 4.5, piezoelectric actuated micro-pump). I have followed the example exactly, but kept on having problem with the MFX launcher in ANSYS APDL.

After setting up the directory, input and definition files for ANSYS Run and CFX Run on the launcher, I have an error message of "The required cfx5solve.exe file was not found in the v121\CFX\bin subdirectory of the directory enter in the 'CFX installation directory' filed on the 'MFX-ANSYS/CFX Setup' tab, as is required".

I have made sure all the files and directories on the launcher are correct. It looks to me that the two parts of the program seem not talking to each other, but the starnge thing is both Ansys and CFX run perfectly individually. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Or is there any batch code that can avoid the launcher and get the MFX solution phase going, either through CFX or ANSYS? The Workbench approach seems to be very time consuming.

Thank you for your help!
Best regards,

Ryan

I would launch the job from the CFX Solver Manager instead. Assuming that in CFX-Pre the External Solver Coupling was set to ANSYS Multifield via Prep7, then in the CFX Solver Manager just pick the CFX .def file and it should start. I would run CFX outside of Workbench for this type of case.

Submitting an FSI via the ANSYS side, you need to use the high level directory Ansys Inc location for CFX Installation directory.

On my computer it is

C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc

If you specify a directory further down or the acutal directory that the solver is in, you get the error you got.

Search for the exe file "cfx5solve.exe" and paste a copy of it in "v121\CFX\bin" directory. hope that should work.

I have ANSYS14 and when I perform commands under the title "Set up the CFX Model and Create the CFX Definition File"
the bellow error is exist and it not allow to create Definition file

In Analysis 'Flow Analysis 1': Unit conversions will not be applied to data transferred between the solvers. To enable these conversions, select a pre-defined system of solution units for the ANSYS solver using the /UNITS command in the Input File.

please help me

use "/UNITS SI" manually in the input file.

Dear Paul
thanks so much for your answer
this command should be added in which input file ?
I added it in piezo.INP and insert this file in "external solver coupling -Mechanical input file " is it true ?

Best Regards
