Hello all,

I'm using ANSYS 13 Workbench/CFX in order to determine the fluid pressure exerted on an obstacle inside an active pipe and from that, determine the forces exerted on the obstacle. I've managed to perform the simulation and produce a contour map of the pressures exerted on the obstacle (shown in the attached image). Now what I'm trying to do is use that information to determine the overall force exerted on the robot by dividing the pressure on each face by its area and then summing up the forces. However, short of simply doing this by eye and reading the pressure values from the diagram, I'm not sure how to use the actual data computed in CFX to determine the average pressure on each face. How would I go about doing that?

Thanks

Use the built in force functions. Much more accurate than calculating average pressures (and this approach does not include viscous forces anyway).

The CEL expressions like force, force_x, torque are what you are looking for.
