I am analyzing periodic flow field elements in a heat and water vapor exchanger. Unfortunately, I cannot use a periodic domain interface because the fluid density is not constant (due to mass transfer of water vapor). I have found it satisfactory to use two elements, one upstream to develop the flow, then take my measurements on the downstream element. This means I have to solve 2 elements, which is not a big deal.

However, I have many of these to do, and they are a pain to mesh. I import a solidworks assembly into workbench, but then have to mesh each domain separately which is painful. Is there a way to mesh one domain, then assemble two of those meshes together to form a complete test section - or any other good ways to do this?

does anybody have any suggestions?

Alternatively, I could mesh only one domain with multiple repeating elements contained within. The difficulty I have then is evaluating the average coefficients I want over a particular element or section of the domain. Currently, with one element per domain, I use an expression like h=areaAve(Wall Heat Flux)@surf/(areaAve(Temperature)@surf-volumeAve(Temperature)@Default Domain). Surf is the surface transferring heat and this yields the average heat transfer coefficient over that element or domain. Is there a way to define new geometric regions within the domain so that I can use expressions like this to evaluate coefficients on smaller sections of the domain?

This sort stuff should be easy in workbench using parameters. Should be able to control the geometry and flow parameters from the front page then hit "go" and let it crunch it all out.
