Basic advice on Importing Solid Edge model to CFX needed.

Hi all,

Sorry in advance for this being a very simple question I expect, but as a University student I am relatively new to CFD.

I have been set a final year project to produce a model of the flow within the combustion chamber/cylinder of a small, single cylinder, internal combustion engine. My first thoughts have been to create a model of the cylinder, head and piston using Solid Edge (CAD programme) as this is available to me and then importing this into Ansys CFX. Is this a feasible thing to do, and is it the best way to go about this?

Also if someone could give me advice on the best way of importing the model into CFX once I have modelled it I would be grateful.

Many Thanks

Steve

My PhD thesis may be of interest:

And if you think I am going to write a forum post on how I did it - get real!
