Axial Fan Mesh

Dear All,

Please take a look at this mesh, which is a meridonial view of a fan blade passage.

I was wondering does the inlet and outlet have to be vertical, i.e. normal to the flow direction in the axial-radial plane?

This would obviously cause a large stretching of the elements near the top of the mesh and would negatively affect the mesh quality. However is this necessary for a correct representation?

I am using total pressure at inlet and static pressure at outlet boundary conditions.

Thank you

No, the boundary does not need to be normal to the flow. Things are a little nicer if they are normal, but you can run it not normal.

Thank you for your reply Glenn!

I am trying to run the case with the corrected mesh as well to see how much it affects the efficiency.
