Hello everybody,
I'm performing a turbomachinery simulation using frozen rotor / stage interfaces, and at the interfaces there is a lot of recirculation (fluid going in and out the interface in opposite directions), as is supposed to be, due to the machine design. Furthermore there is no geometrical way to move the interfaces in order to avoid recirculation.
I've seen somewhere in the manuals that is not recommended to have recirculating flows through frozen rotor or stage interfaces, so in your opinion, should I revert to a moving mesh in order to obtain an accurate solution?
Thanx

No. Use the transient rotor/stator approach so you can resolve the recirculation throughout the cycle. This is still a MFR approach.

Dear G. Horrocks,
for transient rotor/stator approach one needs results file of frozen rotor/sator interface, and with recirculation in frozen interface, solution does not converge easily.
Pls. comment.
