viewing cfx post while working on cfx solver manager
 

Hi,

Can anybody advice me is it possible to view animation or any results on cfx post while cfx solver manager is working, I mean simultaneously I want to have a look the results while cfx solver manager is working, because some time some transient simulation takes long time say 10-12 day to fully finished its test, but by this time I want to have look fluids behavior.

If its possible could you please tell me how?

Hi HMR.

In the solver manager under Workspace there is the option to backup your run. If you do this during your simulation you can load the backup file in Post to look at your results. I'm not sure if this works for transient simulations as I've mostly done steady state cases myself but I think it's possible.

The only way of monitoring the variables of interest simultaneously as your simulation is running that I know of is to create monitoring points in Pre. This is something you do under Output Control -> Monitor. You can read more about it in the manual.

I just noticed that in Pre under Output Control you can choose to backup your results with a certain timestep interval. You could look into that ...

If you are running a transient simulation you'll probably have a bunch of *.trn files (transient result files) which you can look at in CFD-post during the calculation.

pressing disk button in solver manager produces a backup file for transient as well as for steady simulations.

The transient results have the option full. The *full.trn can also be opened like res-file. However you have to be careful with disk space.
