Particle tracking problem

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to model bedload moving in CFX? I was trying to simulate the sediment transportation and I found that the large particles drop to the bottom due to gravity but it never stops. They continue to move even though the shear stress at that location is very low. I found in Ansys help that "Currently there is no method to accurately simulate this type of particle sliding". so just wondering what's the best way to deal with that. Just stop the partile when they hit the bottom?

Thanks,

Wendy

CFX has no models for particles packing and forming beds. You might be able to use the fluidised bed model to do what you want but that is in a Eularian context, not particle tracking.

If you want particles to pack into beds you need to consider discrete element modelling software like EDEM.

I have the similar probem too.

ghorrocks, do you have any reference (tutorial, maunal, etc) for EDEM? Is it easy to use?

Thanks,

I have never used EDEM so cannot say anything about how easy it is to use.
