Problems with transient flow in CFX

Good morning everyone. I am currently trying to run a transient problem in Ansys CFX. When I try to load up any one the .trn files in CFD-post, I keep getting the following error message.

ERROR
Error reading file 'C:\Users\td2e09\Desktop\Split channel\Experiments April 2011\600mm_fence_8.6m_from_inlet_003.dir\8.trn':
Error reading number of domains (G/NZN).

My problem has a normal large domain and one subdomain, which I am applying a momentum loss to. Can anyone shed any light on why I might be getting this error message and what it is I am doing wrong. Thank you.

Is it a full transient file including the mesh, or a partial one? You cannot load trn file with no meshes by themselves. You need to access it from the results file.

Good afternoon, and thank you for your message. It is a full transient file. I have the results file and can open the results file in CFD post no problem. Then i go to File-Load results, and select the .trn file to open. But then it displays the error message. Do you have any idea what i might be doing wrong here. Thank you :)

If the trn file is a timestep of a run which completed and gave a results file then you do not open the trn file with file-load. You access it by loading the results file and selecting the timestep you wish and it will automatically load the trn file. You do not need to open it yourself.

Error reading number of domains (G/NZN).

This error is related to no geometrical information from trn file what means no mesh. *.trn, *.bkp, *.res *. def and *. cfx files are all able to be open in CFD-Post if they contain the mesh. verify the size of the files res and trn, if the trn size is much smaller than res, hence the mesh is only in the res files. A FULL bkp is able to load the mesh also.
