Total Thickness of Inflation Layer

Hi,

I trying to determine the total thickness of my inflation layers defined in CFX Mesh. When I defined the inflation layer, I used the "Total Thickness" option with the following parameters:

Number of Layers = 8
Maximum Thickness = 0.002meters
Growth Rate = 1.2

I read the description of the maximum thickness and it seems to suggest that "Maximum Thickness" refers to the maximum thickness of an individual inflation layer. When I called the outsourced Ansys Help Line the person told me maximum thickness represents the total thickness of all the inflation layers. So now i'm confused...

Can someone please let me know if there is a way to determine the total thickness of all of the defined inflation layers?

Keyma,

I believe the "Total Thickness" is set for the whole inflation layers. Is this what you want? or do you need to define each layer thickness?

Best regards

Thanks for the reply. Yes i'm looking for total inflation layer thickness.

Hello Keyma,

Number of Layers = 8 (This defines the total number of divisions or layers within the inflation region below)
Maximum Thickness = 0.002meters (This defines the total thickness and in some cases it is beneficial to make it equal some other dimension, such as the total boundary layer thickness for example.)
Growth Rate = 1.2 (This is the expansion ratio for each consecutive cell in the direction of the inflation)

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your explanation. However, I am not clear about total thickness. Can just assume the value? as I seen it is effect my result which is reduce the total thickness witll drop my temperature result

I also realize, when I increase the total thickness, the size of division layer is change to have slightly same size compare to small number of total thickness whereas, the 1 layer division is smaller and getting wider

Thank
