Definition of thermal conductivities

Hi,

What is the definition of and difference between following variables listed in CFX Post:

Thermal Conductivity
Thermal Conductivity_xx
Thermal Conductivity_xy
Thermal Conductivity_xz
Thermal Conductivity_yy
Thermal Conductivity_yz
Thermal Conductivity_zz

Anyone please?

Well, a guess would be that you should use the _xx etc variables when the material is anisotropic (different values for different directions)

@Lance,

Thanks for your reply. Yes I also guess so. Actually the variable 'Thermal Conductivity_xx' seems the variable k_x i.e thermal conductivity in direction x which controls the heat flux in x direction -k_x(dt/dx).
Please correct me if my guess is wrong.

But what do the variables like 'Thermal Conductivity_xy' and 'Thermal Conductivity_xz' etc. mean? I am not even able to guess their meaning..
