How to simulate fanwing rotation?

2 Attachment(s)
Hi, guys.
I am a newbie in cfx. And I want to do a simple simulation of flow over a rotating fanwing. Although I have followed the tutorial of axis turbine, I found the flow direction is different with fanwing model. The inlet direction of tuturial case is along the axis, but the fanwing case is perpendclar to the axis.

So, I am wondering if cfx can manage this case, if yes, which mode should I use? and boundary conditions?

regards

Here is the fanwing motion pic.

I have chosen the turbomachinery and frozen rotor method to make the fan rotate in 3D.

Is it nessesary to make it to transient rotor-stator case? What's the different between the 2 methods?

I have also tried the case in a 2D(2D extrude to 3D, with 2 symmetries), but turned to some error. So, does it mean rotation cases can not be simulate in 2D?

Any answer from anybody will appreciate!

This model is straight forward, just stick a rotating domain in the middle of a normal stationary domain. Set the normal domain up with something like a velocity inlet and a pressure outlet and it should work fine.

Frozen rotor does something equivalent to a steady state run by including the rotation as body forces. TRS models the rotation directly and is therefore is physically correct, but requires a transient model.

This should work fine in 2D.

I have done it as u told me, and the simplified case run successfully, which contains the fan only. My option is using general style, inner rotational domain, outter stational domain, inlet velocity, outlet static pressure, and it is a 2d case.
Next I will add the wing part into the domain.
So, Thank you for your advice, Mr. Ghorrocks.:D
