anyone ever heard/used XFlow?

not really competing with CFX but MSC is planing to couple it with ADAMS (which is what I use these days). I'm just wondering if anyone has any information about run times etc.

Looks similar to PowerFlow (http://www.exa.com/pages/pflow/pflow_main.html) in that it uses the Boltzmann approach rather than the Navier Stokes equations. This is an explicit scheme so should parallelise well. Also this approach is very good for external aerodynamics as it inherently resolves turbulent flow structures (like LES in Navier-Stokes solvers).

The weakness of this approach is it is inherently transient, I do not believe you can do steady state simulations with it. Also they usually do not support the complex physics of things like multiphase, multicomponent, radiation, combustion, chemistry etc, but that is not inherent in the approach but more due to the smaller development effort spent on the solvers in these areas.
