Hi all,
I have a created a domain as Domain1 which is Fluid domain Now I want to create a sub-domain for Domain1 which is a porous domain Is it possible to create like this? If so can u explain how? |

Yes, create a mesh region and allocate it a sub domain. Have a look at the tutorials for how to do it.

Hi Glenn Horrocks,
If I create domain as a porous medium then it is asking for Area porosity and volume porosity . But when i define it as subdomain it is not asking for those things.... only basic settings and sources are there ..you have only momentum sources or porous loss and momentum source .....also you can specify only loss model and resistance loss coefficient... Which parameter is deciding the porosity of the screen?..Whether it is the loss model or area porosity , volume porosity which we are giving in the domain ...... U might get confuse why am i asking these things... my problem itself is like dat ...I have to create a screen with some part of the screen as fluid domain and some other part of the domain as porous domain... It seems if we create a screen with different porosities, then it wil act like a distortion screens... After this i have to use it in front of complete rotor geometry in order to analyses the effects of this distortion screen on the performance of compressor .. I have attached the geometry ..u can have look at it ...in the screen where the surface(dark brown color), there i am using porosity of 0.75 and remaining as fluid domain I have gone through some tutorials, i am not able to understand it properly your help is much needed here Thanks n Regards Arun Raj.S |

If you are applying a porous screen then forget about a porous volume and use a flow resistance on an interface instead.

Please can you explain some more detail?
use flow resistance on an interface means?... also i need to consider the screen as a wall?... please go though the image and explain ...bcoz its a bit complicated for me to understand you.... |
