Gas flowing into a complex structure

Hi all,

I don’t have experiences with CFX, and I would like to know if this software can solve my problem. I read a bit the tutorial and I found a similar problem to mine (Catalytic converter with honeycomb).

My question: Is it possible to simulate with CFX, the gas (Nitrogen) flowing into the Catalitic converter by modelling the honeycomb structure. What are the major difficulties: the meshing, the cost time, the model, ...

All suggestions are welcome

Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards

Yes, it is possible, as you have already discovered.
You will have to invest quite a bit of time to get a good solution.
I am not an expert with your field, but if you can use specialised software, you should achieve results quicker.
CFX and most CFD software cover all fluid flow, hence quite broad, so the onus is on the user to set up the problem. The advantage is that one can do much more using CFD software, with the possibility of greater accuracy.
