Default Problem with Heat transfer in Sloid and Fluid models

Hi all,

I defined a very simple steady state simulation and I noticed in Default domain:

I am obliged to give a type of Heat transfer in Solid and Fluid models, otherwise to define the inlet and outlet conditions, I have only the choice between wall or symetry as you can see on the picture.

Please anyone can explain me the problem or which options I have to choose ?

The boundary selected is an external boundary of a solid body. A solid body has no flow so none of the flow BCs make sense. You can only select BCs associated with heat transfer.

Hi Ghorrocks,

Thank you for your quick reply, I am always a beginner with this software.
So, I prefer to show you my simulation (see the attached picture).

When you tell me, it is an external boundary of a solid body, I don't understand. Because the inlet and the outlet are defined from footprints (i.e., half-circle) on the solid. Please, can you tell me, if it is a good solution.

I profit to ask you an another question about the post-treatment, is it possible for a transient simulation to compute the volume of the fluid is flowing through a domain (e.g., the volume of fluid which is passed through the two holes on the picture)

In your first post the domain which you are placing that boundary in is a solid one so the only options are wall and symmetry. This does not appear to be in the domain the boundary you selected is in as you have set that to be an opening (because of the arrows on it).

You can work out flow rate using a monitor point, then export the monitor point data and integrate it over time to get total flows.
