How to use blender for engrid?

Hello,
due to some problems in meshing with salome I try to use blender in combination with engrid now. What I understand so far: in order to create a hexahedral mesh engrid needs an already created surface mesh of an object. So I build a cube in blender, change to edit mode and subdivide the existing mesh, so each surface of the cube has 4 x 4 squares. After importing this file to engrid I always have just one single square for each side. What am I doing wrong?

I appreciate any help.

Ok, I got it now. I put a skin around my cube after subdividing my mesh. Now I can see the entire mesh in engrid. But now I get an error message while creating prismatic boundary layer.

Any help is still welcome :)
