Pressure loss in PEM cell with different profiles
 
Hello.

I'm a student of Mechanical Engineering and I'm trying to project a PEM cell.

Now, I'm studing the influence of different profiles into pressure loss.

THE SOFTWARE IS COSMOS FLOWORKS

For now, let's focus in a common serpentine.

I have working pressure and inlet volume flow rate.

I put as bondary conditions, the inlet volume flow in the inner face of inlet cavity and at the outlet cavity, I put static pressure and pressed 'OK'.

As inicial conditions, I put the inlet face and accepted the entries. P and T default, defined previous at Wizard.

I choose, than, Static Pressure at inlet and outlet surface. And Global Goals velocity and density.

I run the solver.

Next I put everything in Floworks calculator.

I want to know if I can trust in this way of getting pressure loss... Am I right?


I believe that it will give me the inlet pressure that I need to choose a pump.

Sorry for my english and for the big text... but I'm trying to learn the software by myself.

Hi, you are making all right, but I don't understand, why you use inlet face as inlet conditions?

In FlowSimulation (Formely Cosmos FloWorks) you can define initial conditions in the GeneralSettigs>Initial Conditions. There are possibility to define temperature, pressure and velocity. For some special cases you can use Local initial conditions.

For obtaning values of pressure drop you can use Equation Goals={SG Static Pressure Inlet} - {SG Static Pressure Outlet}.
