Hi all,

I open this post in order to talk about optimization with Flow3D.

I propose the next example: We have a parametrized geometry proposal (the dimension of the runner, for example) and the objective of a simulation batch is to reduce the porous volume.

Has someone do something like this with Flow3D?

Regards everybody!

Hi Eric,

I work for Flow Science, the developers of FLOW-3D. We have recently partnered up with the makers of an optimization tool called CAESES. The beauty of this package is that it has a built-in solids kernel that works with parameterized geometries and can modify them - natively, there is no need to connect it to a third-party CAD software. You can then hook CAESES up with FLOW-3D, define the variable parameters of the runner system, define your objective and let it automatically run variations of the simulation and find the optimum solution.

You can contact us (info on our website) for more details. This is the most efficient way of solving the optimization problem you have posed here.

Best,
Amir

Hi Amir,

Thanks for your reply. I work in a foundry and we have an official license of Flow3D. I check CAESES program and I show that there are two license possibilities (free and premium). I hope that with the free version is not possible to optimize automatically the geometry, is correct?

Is possible to get an example tutorial where Flow3D and CAESES are linked?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Best regards.

Hi Eric,

We are working on a webinar that will show just that. It will be ready for public presentation some time in July. In the meantime, please contact me directly through our: sales AT flow3d DOT com email and I will arrange for a demo so you can see the two packages in action.

Look forward to working with you.
