Path Plot Result

Hi All
It is possible to do a path plot by specify 2 coordinates? for example user just need to defined point A (x1,y1,z1) and B (x2.y2,z2) then it will generate data/results for velocity, pressure or temperature along that line?

Hi, I don't think this is possible. Would be nice, really.

Hi Michael
will this consider as enhancement feature for future release?

MuxaB April 13, 2009 11:10

How do you see this feature working in practisc? Would it be like a streamline plot, that is, displayed a colored line?

ck5285 April 13, 2009 21:08

It should display as colored line so that user can physically view from post-processing and confirm if this is what they want. Btw, data along that line (temp, velocity, pressure for each coordinate/points along the line) can be export to excel/notepad for further graph plot/analysis by user. So is this doable?

MuxaB April 14, 2009 12:35

How many points would you have along the line? Would it be user's input? In any case, this will not be possible in FLOW-3D's post-processor any time soon (this year, for example), but I am usre it is possible in other post-processing packages, like Fieldview or Tecplot.

ck5285 April 14, 2009 20:47

The number of data is depends on number of nodes/grid cells along the defined point/line. You are right both Fieldview & Tecplot have the capabilities but the major problem is both are expensive tools and bottom line is why user have to pay more for just post-processing package if this can be done with F3D itself. I don't have the post-processing package as mentioned and it become a problem in data analysis.

Hi CK,

I understand your point, but by the same token we cannot develop the same post-processing capabilities that FV and TP have since our primary focus is CFD.

To answer you original question - it is not currently possible to display data the way you describe, and we are not planning to have it in this year's release.

Regards,

Michael

Michael
so any plan to consider this in future?
