Hi All
Would like to know if anyone has requested to improve Flow-3D GUI? I have experienced with others modern CFD codes and they have very user friendly GUI. Only single windows to handle pre-processor, solver setting & post-processing and is icon base. So, i wonder if any user have the same feeling as me? and have anyone requested this improved to Flow-3D before?

I'm surprise it seem like flow-3d users are happy with existing GUI? as didn't get any feedback on this post.

I'll try to launch the discussion then: to me, it would be really wonderful to have all the elements of a simulation in a single graphical window. The solid geometries, the fluid, the baffles, the valves, etc... everything displayed in a single 3D view to better check the initial location and configuration of everything!

And to modify the properties of each element (the initial fluid velocity, or the motion of a GMO, or the porosity of a baffle) a simple double click on it!
Of course the user should have the possibility (with buttons) to hide some of these elements, but by default all of them present.
This would be really confortable to me.

finally your reply really match with what i'm looking at. i'm having the same feel as you. I believe you should have experienced deal with several CAE before. So have you make this request to flow-3d before? I hope they seriously thinking to improve their GUI to meet modern CAE requirement.

Hope to hear more from others user!

never requested this to FlowScience before, because just the tought impress me about the big work that maybe it would require.
But such interface would be really modern and great. I hope to have it a day...!

Guys,

Your criticism is not in vain This development of the FLOW-3D GUI is on the drawing list, but as you pointed out, it will take time. There is a lot more to be done, including some cool post-processing enhancements. I appreciate your input.

Michael

I've just enjoyed in trying to draw my ideal FLOW-3D interface... and here it is an example! this is almost what I had in mind.
Does it match with your aspettative too?

Hi Stefano,
it looks better than current GUI, but believe it would be great to combine Model Setup, Simulate and Post-Processing tabs into single windows as example posted by Jonathan as below. It looks cool!
