Hexahedron Nodes use in Flow-3D

All
can anyone advice how many nodes of hexahedron cell is used by flow-3d? it is 4 nodes hexa, 10 nodes or 12 nodes? Thanks

The rectangular hexes used in FLOW-3D have staggered nodes: the centroid is used for all scalar quantities, such as pressure and temperature, and the nodes for the velocity components are located at the centers of the respective (six) faces.

So this is 7 nodes Hexes element right? typically CFD mesh will also have nodes at the corner of elements so is there any reason F3D hexes element doesn't have it? Thanks

You may be thinking of finite element meshes. FLOW-3D's mesh is a control volume mesh. It uses velocities at the six facial nodes to compute the fluxes in and out of the volume represented by the element and the centroid node to store the average quantities in the volume.
