Hi ck5285,

I also asked for some tutorials concerning customization some time ago. There seems to be no such tutorial. As I understood it, the way to go is to specify the problem you want to solve and ask direct questions on how to implement the solution using fortan- routines.

Best regards,
Johannes

Hello,

I try yo use tecplot360 2009 with a trial version. Customisation is very easy with this software for variables combination and for average values
Try it instead of customisation
Only one pb the price arround 4000$, I am not sure that we can buy it ....

Does the Manual shed any light on customization? Chapter 9 I think.

ck5285,

not yet, at least nothing further than what is statet in the manual. In fact I was a little bit distracted by other projects the last weeks and am right at the moment starting anew with that issue. I guess I will give this tecplot 360 a try. I'll post my experiences with it...

Regards,
Johannes

Luc,

this tecplot 360 is only a postprocessing tool, isn't it? But that's not what is intendet by customizing f3d. Customization means recompiling some fortran code to get customized data not yet produced by the 'standard' f3d code (at least as I understand it). But that isn't possible with tecplot, isn't it?

Regards,
Johannes

Hi,

With tecplot360 I think you have a function to compute new variables with Flow3D basic one. So I have already computed angular momentum and fluid inertia for each cell. More over I calculate mean value for each step time very quickly.
I don't know what you want to do ?

yes the customization is capture in chapter 9, but it just describe its function and doesn't provide an example on how to use them. An example to demonstrate how to do customization is always best for user.

if Tecplot can post-processing data that not able to generate by Flow-3D itself then it is really great! at least no need to learn on Fortran programing that only familiar by old folks. I believe most young generation are more familiar with C/C++ programing instead. so can you figure out and share with us? Thanks

Hi,

With tecplot I just :
-Open flow 3D files
-Create alter variables (data/ alter specify equation)
-And integrate these variables for each time step on all the volume (analyse/perform integration)

Between bracket the tecplot function.
But tecplot 360 is not free => the price is about 4000$ ...

this sound great and hopefully Flow-3D developer is working hard to achieve this goal.
