VAWT simulation
Hi all,
I'm just new with Flow 3D software. I want to know the following How can we simulate a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine in open air? for example we have a 7 m/s wind speed, Can we compute the rotation of the Blade of the Rotor? and also the Torque? What is the proper set-up of its Mesh Geometry, Boundary Condition, Initial, Physic and all other paramters? Thanks in advance for you help |
i think this is doable, but may be a time-consuming simulation, especially if the turbine blades are thin compared to its span. I would define a mesh box around it, mesh it so that the geometry is well resolved and define a wind velocity at one boundary and pressure at all others. Turbulence will be important, gravity - not so much.
The turbine itself shall be modeled as a fixed-axis GMO component. |
thanks for your reply, michael..
but i having a problem right now.. for there is still no movement on the blades.. |

There is an Example problem called GMO mixers in $F3D_HOME folder that has a simple but similar setup for two rotating GMO components. |
