Solid Object Melting in Flow-3D

I'm pretty new to Flow-3D and I'm trying to figure out a way to model the melting of a solid object.

As an example, I'd like to simulate a solid paraffin block on an angled hot plate, and model the block melting with the fluid running off.

It seems like Flow-3D only allows you to apply Solids material properties to components, not Fluids properties (which have all the phase change material properties).

Any suggestions on how to model this?

You are right, a solid object cannot melt or otherwise behave like a fluid. But you can start with a solidified fluid region on a slope and then melt it.

Does it melt because the substrate is hot? If so, you will need to make that solidified fluid pressed against it. This can be achieved by using a special type of phantom component covering the paraffin block, with IFOB()=4 and the linear velocity set equal to the speed of the paraffin block. You may have to play with that velocity to match it with the rate of melting.
