Periodic B.C.

Hi there,
Can any one explain what the Periodic Boundary Condition is, with an example?

Thanks in advanced

Flow that exits one periodic boundary enters, at the same height, at the opposite periodic boundary. Usually used w/ cylindrical meshes for swirling flow so that the entire cylinder does not need to be resolved. Also used with component gravity (gx, gz) to create sloped flumes that are positioned orthogonally to the mesh. Hope that helps.
