I would like to implement a simple wave propagating in the domain without making a dynamic mesh. I would like to specify both the free surface elevation and the velocity as a function of time. Fluent only allows me to specify the velocity with a UDF but not the free surface elevation (VOF Open channel). How can I accomplish this? Also, I looked that there is an option for VOF waves. How do I use this to generate a wave?

Hi Daniel

I can't help you with the UDF. As for the Open Channel Wave BC:

In Models:Multiphase:VOF, enable
Open Channel [√] and
Open Channel Wave BC [√]
Now under boundary conditions, set you inlet zone to Velocity inlet. Edit its settings and enable Open Channel Wave BC, then specify the wave you want under the Multiphase tab.
