Water surface in open-channel model

Hi, I have a problem.I run open-channel flow model with 2 phases (air, water). I want to know water surface (depth of flow) in mid section of channel. How I need to do ?
Please help me. I'm very quickly.
Thank you
Mark.

i have the same problem. i am using VOF and want to see the air water interface. this seems to be difficult as when i export volume fraction data to excel or even observing contour, the interface is not well defined. the volume fraction is varying and giving as low volume fraction as .5 where it is supposed to have 1. what could be the problem or what could be the alternative please suggest...

dear akjha
surface-iso surface
choose density or volume fraction as iso-parameter,specify 500 as density or 0.5 as VOF respectively.the you will create the interface between water and air.
VOF method cannot give sharp interface, it is a continuate approach in multiphase flow simulation, so it approximately solve "phase jump" problems, accuracy of interface location prediction depends on mesh density around interface

dear moremarx
insert iso-surface as density or volume fraction
insert iso-clip at mid plan, choose iso-surface as clip surface
export the iso-clip date and you will see the coordinates of interface in mid section

Hi...

I followed your instructions and I succeeded in it, so they have been very useful. Thank you.

Anyway, I would like to ask you if you know how to do a contour plot of water depths for an open channel flow, directly in Fluent, and not exporting the data and making the contour by Matlab (for instance).

Thank you
Bye
