How to create interface in VOF model of ANSYS/Fluent

My problem is related to VOF model in Ansys/Fluent.I am not able to form right geometry.I am attaching a picture of 2d-VOF model.its about 2d box falling in water.it contains two phases water and air.someone told me that there is no need to define interface in VOF model.but the interface part automatically changed by wall condition.but I want that part as a default-interior.so how can I create a right geometry.plz help me to fix this problem.or tell me the proper way to create geometry for any VOF model.beacuse I found some tutorial on internet.either they all starts from setup in fluent or the explanation is not proper.eg. I found Dam-Break tutorial but I didn't get proper geometry. In picture 1)green line indicates default-interiar. 2) gray part indicates default-interiar:007 3) red part indicates default-interiar:009 4) magnet colour line indicates wall.and 5)yellow line indicates outlet. [in this case I am unable to create 1)default-iterior].so plz help me.....my email address is: shambansal2010@gmail.com

You haven't attached the picture :P
However, for a generic VOF transient simulation you can create 2 different zones in your domain in your pre-processor software (gambit for example), then in fluent, in the solution initialization tab, you can initialize your domain, then patch one of the two zone.
For example consider a bubble in a liquid:
1) Create geometry in gambit with 2 zones: the bubble and the liquid zones.
2) Set up your problem in fluent with VOF model
3) Inizialize the solution
4) Patch the bubble zone with a vapor fraction of 1
5) Patch zones if properties at t=0 are different for the 2 zones (for example you can patch the temperature of the bubble or the bubble pressure, etc.)

Thanks for your response.and sorry for picture.I pasted the picture but I don't know why its not showing.I am not working in Gambit.I am working in DM(design Modular) in Ansys 13.0,I am new in Ansys/Fluent.I want to knot how to define different zones so that I can get interface as a defalt-interior.I am again trying to attach picture.this time I am also attaching a picture link.plz help me....

The way you present the problem in the mesh it looks like you have to deform the grid during the fall of the box. Can you mesh interior box and define it as a third phase with excessively high viscosity (to make it "solid")? You would still need to patch it at initialisation. I am not a multiphase expert (yet :)), it is just an idea to try.

Hi all
i want simulate two phase flow with fluent.my case is a pipe that filled of working fluid, and Tube wall have constant Heat flux, after boiling the fluid in pipe,we have two phase(vapor,liquid)...and i want see the bubble ...
how simulate this case with fluent?
plz help

Droplet on a surface

Hi everybody. I am a newbie in simulation, using ANSYS 14.0

I would like to know how to design a vof model of droplet onto a surface (using design modeller)? Can somebody help me? :D

Hi Hami,

Have you solved your problem of multiphase simulation of droplet on a surface.

Hi, I would like also to model droplet impact on solide surface with VOF model, If you got answer pls tell me.

What I did was

1. building the chamber/volume for the droplet
2. mesh it
3. in fluent, adapt a region for the initial droplet location
4. patch that region with water(secondary phase) and give that region a initial velocity if needed.
5. run it

There is a VOF tutorial in ANSYS Fluent. Why don't you follow that?

Need some help...

Can anyone tell me, how to create a geometry of the air-water bubble column? I search through the net but didn't find anything there. Plz help me out...

Here's a good video to talk you through each step:

About the tutorial,
search "fluent vof tutorial" on Google and you can find what you need.

About the model creation,
1. Try Design Modeler in Workbench .
2. Try "Mark/Adapt Cells" in "Adapt" and "Patch" in "Solution Initialization" in ANSYS Fluent.
