Hi,

I am trying to do a simulation where I am generating a shockwave underwater. I want to use a point source to generate a shock wave.

I need help on finding a UDF Code to generate an energy source to generate a shock wave. I want the shock wave to travel in all directions.

I would really appreciate any kind of help or insight you can provide on my problem.

An UDF to define a source term is readily available. This requires proper modification to define a point energy source.

where do I find the UDF to define a heat source?
I want to define a heat source underwater. I want to use the heat source to create a shockwave underwater. I would appreciate any kind of help you can provide. I am new to fluent and not very good at writing UDF's.

Can you describe you problem in detail?
For source UDF search the word define_source. You will get this in UDF manual.

Hey,

I am trying to simulate a shockwave underwater.
I have a square mesh that is 1mx1m. It is a closed tank that is filled with water.
the theory is the shockwave is created by the rapid expansion of a bubble.
Thus, I want to create the bubble with a energy/heat source.

I want to create the energy/heat source in the middle of my domain (in the center of the square)
The heat source will then create a bubble which will create a shockwave.
I want to see how this shockwave behaves with the walls of the tank.

My approach- My method is using an if statement in my UDF to specify the location of the heat source. Then I want to define a heat source that is in the form of A*exp(-t).

I need help on writing my UDF. I would appreciate any kind of help you can provide. thank you

Hi

You will have define the CG (center of gravity) or by defining a point which is lying on center and then define energy source at that point.

This is very simple. You will have little bit of reading on UDF.

What you are trying to do is some quite sophisticated stuff.
It features evaporation, free surfaces, a distinct coupling between pressure and velocity...

Have you considered starting with simple models that involve only one of the above features to understand them better before using them all in one simulation? I highly recommend this procedure.
