Please help!!!COMPILED UDFs PROBLEM!!!

Hi,

I have a UDF running perfect in Interpreted mode, but when I try to run it in Compiled mode it gives an error after building the "libudf" library as follows:

///////*Make sure that UDF source files are in the directory

that contains your case and data files. If you have an

existing libudf directory, please remove this directory

to ensure that the latest files are used. The system cannot find the file specified. The system cannot find the file specified.

1 file(s) copied. The system cannot find the file specified.

1 file(s) copied. (system "move user_nt.udf libudf\ntx86\3d")0 (system "copy C:\Fluent.Inc\fluent6.1\src\makefile_nt.udf libudf\ntx86\3d\makefile") 1 file(s) copied. 0 (chdir "libudf")() (chdir "ntx86\3d")() 'nmake' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. 'nmake' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.*////////

I followed every step in Tutorial. If I ignore this error and continue by clicking "load", i have another error like this:

///////*Opening library "libudf"... Error: open_udf_library: The system cannot find the path specified.

Error Object: ()*///////

My Udf is very simple and it needs only "udf.h" head file and it is also in the same directory where my case and data file take place. Can anyone help my about this problem? Thanks in advance...

Normally this problem occurs if you haven't already installed microsoft visual c++.

Hi HVN,

I have visual C++ in my computer. But, should I tell FLUENT that C++ is installed to overcome this problem? Do you have another advise?

Is "nmake" in the path.

Re: Please help!!!COMPILED UDFs PROBLEM!!!

Hi,

You are right Allan, the file "nmake" is not in the path. I think that's why Fluent gives this error:"'nmake' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file", because it does not find the file and execute it. So please, could anyone explain me what should I do, after this step. I strongly need to use compiled Udf, and there must a way to use it. Any help will be highly appreciated.

are you using dot net ? There are different instructions to compile udfs if you are using dot net.

i am positive that your problem will be solved once you carefully read the instructions at

http://www.fluentusers.com/support/i...udf_serial.htm

Re: Please help!!!COMPILED UDFs PROBLEM!!!

Hi,Melih,

Firstly make sure that you have already installed Visual c/c++ 5.0 or later version correctly. Did you check the environmental variables box before the installation? Do some important variables and values exist and are they in the correct directories,e.g.,include, lib, MSDevDir and Path?

Secondly, please check your case, data and c source file, are they in the right place where they should be as described in the tutorials?

Then I think should be no problem any more.

I hope it helps a bit.

Regards

Emma
