Turbulent flow of non-Newtonian fluids in Ansys 13 Fluent

Hello everyone,

I would kindly ask you for a hint if it is possible to simulate a turbulent flow of a non-Newtonian fluid in this newer version of fluent because the comand define/models/ viscous/turbulence-expert/turb-non-newtonian? doesn't seem to work anymore.

Regards

Emil

Hey Emil,

I am using Fluent 14.0 and there is a way to enable turbulence modelling for Non-newtonian fluids in it using the TUI command that you have mentioned.

This is how I got it to work:
First select turbulence modelling (select the model that you want to use) in models.
Then go to the TUI and type the following
define/models/ viscous/turbulence- expert/turb-non-newtonian?

and then make the material model (non newtonian fluid) that you want to model. For some reason it works like this.
You can find more information on it in the User guide 13.14.20. Section called "modelling turbulence with non-Newtonian fluids" pg# 721/791

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
