Is it possible to heat a simple solid body with solar radiation in Fluent?

It seems that whatever I try I get convection from the surface but no conduction. What is going on? Please help

For radiation simulations in solids, the radiation term has to be switched on manually.

Go to "Cell Zone Conditions" -> "edit" -> check "participates in radiation"

That should do the trick.

Thank you so much for your offer of advice. If you like I can send my case file. I am working with Version 13, does that still suit you?

I have tried this but still no luck it seems to work with thermal radiation but when I use irradiation nothing happens

Hi,
I am facing the same problem. I have a box , 500mmX500mmx500mm. At the centre is a thin piece of metal 300mmx300mmx5mm. I am trying to heat the metal using heat flux at the top surface and radiation heat transfer. But in the transient simulation, the air starts getting heated up much before the metal.
